pen and ink, watercolor and pencil
The New York Times Magazine
1977
( Article about Los Angelinos spending a lot of time in their cars.
The magazine Art Director at the time was Stan Mack, a wonderful illustrator, cartoonist as well.
He rejected my first interpretation sketch as being pedestrian. He was right.
I loved the way Stan directed. Stan didn't tell me what to do - he just said he wanted...MORE from me.)

Citizens Band Radio Craze
Pen, ink, markers and watercolor
The New York Times Magazine

( A temp Art Director gave me this assignment for the magazine's cover.
When the staff AD returned from vacation, she decided to run it on the
inside in black and white.  Was I disappointed after being up all night
coloring this thing )
